The first thing that shows your age, especially for women, is the skin on your hands. After all, hands are exposed to more environmental and household chemicals than any other part of the body, and require the same special care as the skin of the face or even more. With age, the skin of the hands becomes thinner and the subcutaneous fat layer disappears. We spoke with a plastic surgeon about skin care in this area and what methods exist for skin rejuvenation.
Usually, with skin aging problems in this area, you go to a beautician, and almost never go to a plastic surgeon. And it's not because the word "surgeon" sounds scary, but simply because there's so little information these days about rejuvenating surgical methods.
Hands age as the skin begins to lose elasticity, moisture, volume and elasticity as the amount of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid decreases with age. The first changes begin after the age of thirty, when the skin of the hands becomes drier, the first folds appear as a precursor of wrinkles, the amount of fatty tissue decreases and the appearance of veins. With age, varicose and vein nodules, age spots, keratosis, and other cancers may appear, which will also require treatment.
Also remember that skin aging depends on its type. It comes in thick, thin, normal, mixed, oily, dry and normal varieties. The most interesting thing is that overweight women age more slowly than thin ones. This is partly because the hormone of youth and beauty, estrogen, is found in fatty tissues. However, skin aging does not depend on age - everything is individual, so the frequency and number of treatments will depend on a particular woman's skin condition, genetics and other factors. outside influences her. And the process is stretched in time depending on what the patient wants to achieve.
Paraffin baths are made from cosmetic paraffin, purified from impurities and dyes, to replenish a complex of vitamins, minerals and trace elements, moisturize, whiten, smooth wrinkles and cleanse the skin. . However, this method is suitable for young hands and is used as a preventive measure rather than a cure. The effect will be seen right after the first session, you can also do it at home.
Whitening creams are prescribed to women to prevent and combat age spots, which often appear on the hands with age. These creams often contain substances that destroy melanin in cells, as well as substances that regulate the activity of melanocytes (cells with melanin). They should not be used when exposed to the sun and should be tested for allergies before use.
Peelings (medium, superficial and deep) remove the top layer of the skin and thus contribute to skin rejuvenation. Surfaces are used at the first signs of skin aging - they eliminate signs of aging and increase skin elasticity. For example, a glycol peel will help restore the top layer of the epidermis, stimulate collagen synthesis and keep the skin more hydrated. Chemical peels of superficial and moderate action may vary. Deep peels remove age spots and calluses.
Laser is the most popular procedure in Ukraine, can also rejuvenate the skin of the hands. When the patient hears this word, he immediately runs to the procedure, it is like a magnet that attracts the modern beauty world. Laser procedures activate the synthesis of collagen in the skin, as a result of which it becomes denser, scars, wrinkles and keloids are eliminated. However, you shouldn't expect miracles from these treatments - they're not a panacea.
There are also plasma and radio wave hand rejuvenation techniques. You can take advantage of light skin rejuvenation - intense light radiation, which stimulates collagen production and increases skin resistance significantly.
Methods of surgical correction and injection
Trendlifting is the activity of tightening the skin of the hands with threads to create a skeleton under the skin. There are two types that can only rejuvenate the skin of the hands. These are mediators (mesothreads), substances in which their own repair process takes place, improving the appearance of the skin. Over time, they heal themselves. The procedure is done under general anesthesia and there may be slight swelling and bruising. The post-treatment effect is visible after 2-4 weeks. Then it will gradually increase. The validity period is about one year.
The second thread is made from polypropylene or polylactic acid. Due to the presence of cuts, they tightly fix the fabric and prevent it from falling off. To flatter the skin, the threads are placed right on the wrist. Only a few punctures are made in the skin and the results are visible almost immediately.
Hand lift is a surgical procedure to change the appearance of the back of the hand by replenishing the missing subcutaneous fat. The patient's own fat is taken from the donor site and placed in the hand. During this manipulation, sheath strengthening occurs, since 30-50% of fat is reabsorbed. Of course, sometimes almost everything disappears over time, in such cases we repeat the process. After the procedure, you may feel pain in your arm, similar to a bruise. Edema can last about 10 days or more, it all depends on the patient's location.
Intermediate injection therapy and bioregeneration provide the same rejuvenating effect. Fillers based on hyaluronic acid or meso-cocktails are injected into the skin of the hands, helping to add moisture to the skin, giving it elasticity. Results can be seen after the first try, but it depends on the initial condition of the skin of the hands. Doctors often recommend several treatments to maintain the effects for a longer period of time.
Currently, however, the most common method for treating all parts of the body, including the hands, is grafting. Stimulates collagen and elastin production and improves skin elasticity. Plasma concentrate from the patient's own blood is injected subcutaneously from the finger to the wrist. The effect lasts as long as the healing lasts. The number of these procedures varies depending on the skin type. However, as a rule, from 5 to 10.
In conclusion, it can be noted that no hand rejuvenation procedure is absolutely safe, nor is there a single approach. As for the creams, remember that they are absorbed into the skin no more than 5%.
